Laboratory Astrophysics Workshop 2021

Introduction
The Laboratory Astrophysics Workshop will focus on laboratory studies of physical and chemical processes relevant to interstellar and circumstellar media and planetary atmospheres. The scientific topics of the workshop include (i) the formation, stability, structure, and spectral properties of complex organic molecules, molecular clusters, molecular ices, and dust grains, (ii) the origin of life on Earth, and (iii) the physical and chemical properties of exoplanetary atmospheres.

Programme
The workshop will start on Monday, 22nd November, at 9:00 am and close on Wednesday, 24th November 2021, at about 2:00 pm. Apart from invited talks, there will be a number of contributed talks and a poster session on Tuesday afternoon.

The workshop will be held in the Old CastleExternal link of the three Dornburger Palaces, which are located high above the Saale Valley.

The transport between Jena and Dornburg will be realised by bus transfer (WEIMAR-TOUR). The bus starts at 8:15 h at the bus stationExternal link in front of the Paradise Train Station (Paradiesbahnhof). In the evening, the bus stops at the bus parking place in the Bibliotheksweg, which is in a one minute walking distance to the Restaurant Bauersfeld and 5 minutes to the hotels. On the last day, the bus will directly go to the Paradise Train Station (Paradiesbahnhof). There is no hotel in the village Dornburg. We will organise a daily transfer from Jena to Dornburg by bus. We have made block reservations for single and double rooms from 21.11. to 24.11.2021 in three different hotels. All of them are located in the center of the city.

Travel Information
By train:
You can check available connections with Deutsche BahnExternal link (English version). For details on specific connections from the airports, see below. It is advisable to make a seat reservation if you travel with an ICE.
By train from different airports (Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin):
The trains (ICE) from Frankfurt go frequently and take about three and a half hours. The official name of the station for departure is Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf. There is no direct train to Jena. You have to change to a regional train in Erfurt. You arrive at the station Jena-West. There is again no direct connection between the Airports in Munich or Berlin and Jena. However, ICEs from Munich to Jena and Berlin to Jena run every hour. You have to change in Erfurt or Naumburg to regional trains. You arrive at the station Jena-West or Jena-Paradise, respectively.
